Welcome to
Nanticoke Shelties, a small kennel devoted to the well being and preservation of the Shetland Sheepdog. It is my goal to breed
a balanced Sheltie with a strong temperament and structure true to the standard.
The name
Nanticoke Shelties was inspired by a place that touches my soul with only the sound of reeds blowing in the wind and birds
in the distance. That same feeling is present when I see the intelligence, structure, athleticism, and the melting expression
of a Sheltie.
Long before
the days of the internet and my show aspirations I poured over the Nicholas Shetland Sheepdog “Bible”. Every time
I landed on a photograph of a Sheltie that moved me, it was Jade Mist. My first Jade Mist Sheltie was a family companion.
As
my interest in conformation grew Carol Howell was my first choice for a mentor. Luckily, she made that dream come true. Carol
sold me my first show quality bitch. Her availability to my endless questions and support are a true gift. Most of all, her
dedication to the breed is a torch I hope to carry forward in her honor.
I am a member of the Shetland
Sheepdog club of Greater Baltimore.
